Licence Restoration:

The requirements for licence restoration depends on many things including:

  • the date of the offence
  • the blood alcohol reading
  • the number of past offences (and their dates)
  • a person’s age and
  • the type of licence held at the time of the offence. 

For this reason it is best to fill in the enquiry form or call the office to ensure accurate information is obtained.  However, below is a brief overview of licence restoration requirements.

CATEGORY OF OFFENDER

REQUIREMENTS

First offence, with a
BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) below 07%.

  • Completion of an approved Drink Driver Education Course (click here to enquire) mandatory for offenders under 25 years of age
  • Usually offenders at the end of the disqualification period go straight back to VICROADS for re-licensing

First offence, with a
BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) above .07%, but below .15%

  • Completion of an approved Drink Driver Education Course (click here to enquire)
  • Licence Restoration Order (ie: Go back to court at end of disqualification period)

First offence, with a
BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) of .15% or more

OR

Non-BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) offence

  • Two assessments 12 months apart (click here to enquire)
  • Completion of an approved Drink Driver Education Course (click here to enquire)
  • Licence Restoration Order (ie: Go back to court at end of disqualification period) 

Second or subsequent offence

  • Completion of an approved Drink Driver Education Course (click here to enquire)
  • One assessment prior to licence restoration hearing(click here to enquire)
  • Licence Restoration Order which will involved a mandatory interlock period
